Variety Simple Beef Recipes

Ok here another set of variety simple beef recipes ~ honey beef shaslicks, spicy peppered steak, Indonesia beef, turmeric chilli beef, beef in red wine, curried beef and vegetables and sate beef.

Honey Beef Shaslicks
Ingredients:

  • 60g butter
  • 1 ½ cups sliced onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 x 425g Apricot Nectar
  • 3 tbs malt vinegar
  • 6 tbs honey
  • 1 tbs sherry
  • 1 kg steak cut into 24 cubes
  • 5 lge bananas, cut into 3
Steps:
  1. Melt butter, sauté onions & garlic until soft.
  2. Remove from heat , stir in 1 cup apricot nectar, vinegar, honey & sherry.
  3. Add beef & banana chunks. Marinate 3-4 hours or overnight.
  4. Thread beef & bananas onto skewers & grill for 10-15 mins frequently brushing with marinade & turning to brown on all sides. (Serves for 6)


Spicy Peppered Steak
Ingredients:
  • 1 ½ tbs black pepper
  • 750g topside steak
  • 1 sml red pepper, sliced
  • 1 sml green pepper, chopped
  • 6 green shallots, chopped
  • 1 ½ tbs cornflour
  • ½ cup water
  • 3 tsp grated ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbs soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oil
Steps:
  1. Sprinkle black pepper evenly on both sides of steak & press firmly onto steak.
  2. Cut steak into thin slices.
  3. Combine steak with peppers & shallots in a large shallow dish.
  4. Blend cornflour with water, stir in ginger, garlic, soy sauce & oil, add to steak, mix well.
  5. Cover dish, cook on high 10 mins, stir occasionally.
  6. Reduce to Medium, cook 10 mins, stir occasionally.

Indonesian Beef
Ingredients:
  • 750g steak, diced or in strips
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 pkt Dutch Curry & Rice soup
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 apple, peeled, cored & sliced
Steps:
  1. Place all ingredients into a casserole dish.
  2. Cover, cook on High 5 mins, then Med for 30-35 mins.


Turmeric Chilli Beef
Ingredients:
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 tbs oil
  • 1 kg steak, cubed
  • 2 tbs turmeric
  • 440g can tomatoes
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 4 tbs lemon juice
  • 2 tbs chilli sauce
  • 1 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 tbs grated ginger
  • 2 tsp beef stock powder
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • salt
  • chilli powder
Steps:
  1. Sauté onions in oil until golden.
  2. Remove from pan.
  3. Dust meat liberally in turmeric.
  4. Cook in same pan until well browned.
  5. Return onions to pan with tomatoes, water, lemon juice, chilli sauce, sugar,
  6. ginger, beef stock, garlic, salt & chilli powder.
  7. Simmer covered 35-40 mins.


Beef in Red Wine
Ingredients:
  • 750g cubed topside
  • 1 tbs oil
  • 1 pkt French Onion soup
  • 1 x 425g can tomatoes
  • 1 x 220g can mushrooms
  • ¼ cup red wine
Steps:
  1. Brown beef in oil.
  2. Place in casserole.

Curried Beef & Vegetables (Stew)
Ingredients:
  • 500g steak
  • 2 lge sectioned onions
  • 1 lge carrot
  • 4 tbs tomato paste
  • 5 tsp beef stock powder
  • 1 tbs curry powder
  • 1 tsp salt pepper
  • 5 cups water
  • oil
  • 4 cups mixed vegetables
  • 6 rounded tbs plain flour
  • extra water
Steps:
  1. Heat oil, sauté onion, brown meat, add curry powder, stock powder, salt & pepper, blend, than add carrots, tomato paste & 5 cups water.
  2. Simmer 30-60 mins.
  3. Add mixed vegetables, simmer further 30mins.
  4. Thicken with flour & extra water (1 cup).


Sate Beef
Ingredients:
  • 500g good steak, sliced thinly
  • 1 ½ tsp soy sauce
  • pepper
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornflour
  • 2 tbs oil
Ingredient for the Sauce:
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 med onion
  • 3 tsp sate sauce
  • 2 tsp dry sherry
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • salt
  • 2 tbs water
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp sugar

Steps:
  1. Put sliced meat in bowl.
  2. Add soy sauce, pepper, sesame oil, cornflour & water.
  3. Mix & stand for 20 mins.
  4. Heat oil in pan, sauté meat until brown.
  5. Remove from pan.
  6. Peel & roughly dice onion.
  7. Add to pan with garlic.
  8. Combine sate sauce, sherry, sugar, curry powder, salt, water & soy sauce.
  9. Add to onions in pan.
  10. Stir until boiling.
  11. Return beef to pan & heat through.
